Multi (adv)

Multi is an opening system to show weak 2 in a major suit or a strong NT(20-21 / 22-24). 
This convention come in loads of different variations, but here I'm going to list some version I have used. 

In addition to weak 2 and strong NT, you can use multi as either of the following:

(1) A minor suit and game forcing without side suit. The sequence 2C-2D-3C/3D will then promise a side suit, and the suit above is used to ask which.

(2) Strong 4441. The suit above is Relay after numbers of controls (Ace=2 , King=1)
1 Step: 4-6 Controls , 2 Steps: 7 Controls.....
After the response of 1 Step, you can relay after the exact numbers of controls.


RESPONSES TO 2D OPENING:

  • 2H: Not game if Weak 2 Hearts.

  • 2S: Invitational if Hearts.

  • 2NT: Forcing.

  • 3C: Natural and forcing.

  • 3D: Natural and forcing.

  • 3H: Preempt in weak 2 suit.

  • 3NT: To play.


REBIDS AFTER 2D - 2H:

  • Pass: Weak 2 Hearts.

  • 2S: Weak 2 Spades.

  • 2NT: Strong NT. 


Extras for addition (1)

  • 3C: Natural and game forcing.

  • 3D: Natural and game forcing.

  • 3NT: 25-27 HCP (Strong NT).

Extras for addition (2)

  • 3C: 20-23 HCP and 4414 distribution.

  • 3D: 20-23 HCP and 4144 distribution.

  • 3H: 20-23 HCP and 1444 distribution.

  • 3S: 20-23 HCP and 4441 distribution.

  • 3NT: 24+ HCP and 4441 distribution.

  • 4C: 24+ HCP and 4414 distribution.

  • 4D: 24+ HCP and 4144 distribution.

  • 4H: 24+ HCP and 1444 distribution.


REBIDS AFTER 2D - 2S:

  • Pass: Weak 2 in spades.

  • 2NT: Strong NT. 

  • 3H: Weak 2 in hearts and minimum.

  • 4H: Weak 2 in hearts and maximum.


Extras for addition (1) 

  • 3C: Natural and game forcing.

  • 3D: Natural and game forcing.

  • 3NT: 25-27NT


Extras for addition (2)

  • 3C: 20-23 HCP with 4414 or 1444 distribution.

  • 3D: Relay.

  • 3H: 4414 distribution.

  • 3S: 1444 distribution.

  • 3D: 20-23 HCP with 4144 distribution.

  • 3S: 20-23 HCP with 4441 distribution.

  • 3NT: 24+ HCP with 4441 distribution.

  • 4C: 24+ HCP with 4414 distribution.

  • 4D: 24+ HCP with 4144 distribution.

  • 4S: 24+ HCP with 1444 distribution.


REBIDS AFTER 2D - 2NT:

  • 3C: Weak 2 Hearts. Minimum.

  • 3D: Weak 2 Spades. Minimum.

  • 3H: Weak 2 Hearts. Maximum. --> New suit Cue-Bid.

  • 3S: Weak 2 Spades. Maximum. --> New suit Cue-Bid.

  • 3NT: Strong NT.

  • 4C: Natural and game forcing.

  • 4D: Natural and game forcing.


Extras for addition (2)

  • 4C: 4414 distribution.

  • 4D: 4144 distribution.

  • 4H: 1444 distribution.
